Collaborating with Surmon Weston, this compact kitchen project was done for graphic designer Jonathan Barnbrook. The collaboration centred around developing fluted timber frontages. While the Surmon Weston conceived the fluted design concept, they relied on TG+Co to determine sizing, sections, and manufacturing methods. We created mock-ups and had special cutters made to achieve the desired fluting profile, with the door samples being approved immediately. Our scope extended beyond the kitchen to include wall cladding and a matching fluted bed with integrated drawers in charcoal finish. We also fabricated a distinctive spinning window - a modern interpretation of traditional kitchen hatches - and created concealed wardrobes (not pictured) that blend seamlessly with the wall cladding using push-to-open mechanisms and aligned shadow lines. The project's playful elements reflected Jonathan’s graphic design background and creative aesthetic.
